The park is a hybrid of concrete elements (bowl, quarter pipes, hubba ledges) and Skatelite Pro ramps. The city did a great job and went the extra mile by consulting with top pro skateboarders and consultants before working with Spohn Ranch to build a concrete park through a simpler process.
A hybrid park in every sense, the Hollandia Park design includes street,
plaza and bowl features. It also seemlessly combines in-ground pre-cast
and poured concrete with a fabricated street course.
The Spohn Ranch design team accomodated the irregular footprint of the
park and created park with great flow and over a dozen solid skating
lines.
The design is a superb blend of bowl and street features that will accomodate beginner skatepark riders while still challenging expert skaters.
As with all Spohn Ranch designs, the park offers a rider many "lines" to skate, each with an assortment of obstacles and trick opportunities. Veteran riders can skate the bowl, then execute a "spine transfer" from the bowl a plaza quarter-pipe, then pick up enough speed to attempt a trick on the fun box or rail.
Without SpohnCrete's unique ability to act as a retaining wall, much of the skatepark's budget would have been lost to site work and engineering fees.
Part of a major capital project, the skatepark will help the park serve the community's youth population.

Across the country, skateboarders use Spohn Ranch skateparks every day for exercise, personal development and community building.
We're always amazed and proud when we get a new user-submitted video from one of our parks. It's great to see the city's hard work paying off.
Too often, skateparks are seen as just another public works project. But while a city may have a dozen tennis courts and baseball fields, it will typically have only one skatepark. Skateboarders quickly see a quality skatepark as "their place", and will treat the facility with respect. If, however, the skatepark is sub-standard or not maintained properly, skaters may display their frustration in the form of vandalism and graffiti.
By partnering with Spohn Ranch to create a successful skatepark, a community gets more than just an action sports facility. The skatepark will be a positive space for years, where youth who may be alienated from traditional team sports will find physical fitness opportunities.
Skateparks also provide a safe place for at-risk youth during the gateway hours of 3 PM - 6 PM.
