Doug has an extensive operational background with over fifteen years of hands-on experience in construction and warehouse management. His operational skill set includes ski trail building, tree cutting, re-vegetation, pipeline install and repair, trenching and shoring, snow farming and maintenance, terrain park design and construction, and welding and fabrication.

Doug’s design expertise has won him recognition by the National Ski Area Association as an industry expert. At their invitation, he delivered a series of master seminars on Terrain Park Building. He was also a contributing editor to their industry design and construction guide. He was sought out by Transworld Snowboarding, a national publication, to comment as an expert on industry issues.

Doug came to Spohn Ranch from Copper Mountain Resort in Colorado where he served as the Terrain Park and Slope Maintenance Supervisor. In this capacity, Doug managed over sixty staff members and coordinated with event producers from the 2005 Winter Gravity Games, USASA Nationals, U.S. Telemark Nationals, Nor-Am World Cup Qualifiers and USSA Grand Prix for premier events. He produced many events at the resort, including the Oakley Big Night Out, Planet Earth Shop Wars, Transworld Trans-Am Rail Jams, Volcom Peanut Butter & Rail Jams, Boarding for Breast Cancer, Silver Young Guns Open and the Helly Hansen Shop Battle. Doug also fostered relationships with local and regional representatives of government agencies such as the United States Forest Service, Colorado Division of Wildlife, and United States Army Corps of Engineers.
