SPOhncrete pre-cast concrete
SpohnCrete is a system of precision-cast skate and BMX components with perfect seams, reveals and surfaces that are shipped to the site ready for installation. Utilizing this revolutionary new system has allowed us to create timeless custom skateparks across the globe, with the same high quality finish as poured-in-place skateparks, but with some major advantages.
- 15 Year Warranty on all Spohncrete pieces
- Site preparation and casting of the concrete pieces can occur simultaneously, dramatically reducing the overall construction timeline. On our recent Gainesville, Florida project, we were able to build a 18,000 sq ft park in 28 days. With grant deadlines approaching, precision-casting approximately half of the park’s features off-site saved us considerable time.
- Because we maintain complete control during the mixing and curing process, we can ensure that our concrete always meets our strict standards, thus avoiding the surface inconsistencies, which can occur with other forms of concrete fabrication and installation.
- Our proprietary material mixture yields high-strength concrete that minimizes cracking and chipping. Precision-cast concrete is also subject to stringent quality control, reaching 6000 psi strength vs. the 4000 psi commonly found in poured-in-place parks.
- Our Spohncrete system ensures advanced protection against wear and tear that would normally require continuous maintenance. Metal edging is inserted directly into our concrete molds before casting, giving our pieces superior resistance to grinding and damage.
The Spohncrete Process
Step 1: Site Preparation/Casting of park features in offsite factory
Site preparation, including grading, grubbing, cut and fill, is something that can easily be handled by local contractors working in conjunction with Spohn Ranch. At the same time site preparation is moving forward, the concrete skatepark elements are being cast in our factory – saving both time and money.
Step 2: Pouring Support Slabs
This step involves marking out where all the pieces will be located and setting forms for pouring the support footers. This is another step that can easily be handled by local contractors with the assistance and guidance of Spohn Ranch.
Step 3: Pre-cast Element Installation
Led by Spohn Ranch, factory trained and certified installers will expertly unload and set all the skatepark components in their respective places. This is a precision-process with tolerances of less than 1/32″.
Step 4: Pouring Flatwork
After the pieces have been set, simple concrete flatwork is poured and finished to lock and secure the pre-cast pieces in place, creating a seamless riding surface.
Step 5: Finish Work
Spohn Ranch’s veteran crew will put the finishing touches on your park and weld all stainless steel coping until seamless and ASTM compliant.
