Rather than relying on the traditional skatepark model, Skateable Art utilizes concrete sculptures to create unique terrain where the innovation of skateboarders can truly flourish. With Skateable Art we wanted to recreate the feeling of skating through the streets and finding spots that are challenging to skate and require a creative perspective. With Skateable Art we strive to recreate that same Skatetopian dreamscape, full of beautiful architecture that serves as the perfect backdrop for skaters to film videos and shoot photographs. By making art that is actually meant for skating, we are decriminalizing skateboarding and allowing it to really flourish. As opposed to the standard skatepark funbox, where it’s been made clear what can be done, we hope our Skateable Art pieces can present skaters with a new and exciting challenge.
Engaging Sculptural Terrain – Skateable Art is a true testament to the creative and inherently artistic act of riding and performing tricks on a skateboard. Instead of criminalizing skateboarding, skateable art allows the art of skateboarding to really flourish. As opposed to art in a museum that is hung on a wall and protected by glass, our sculptural pieces are more engaging because they encourage interaction with the art. When no skaters are present these sculptures can be appreciated for their artistic value. When skaters are present, spectators can see an amazing display of athletes reinterpreting art in their own unique way.
With your unique situation in mind, Spohn Ranch can create an innovative design that translates inspiration from the streets into high-quality engineered skateable structures. Then, utilizing state-of-the-art pre-cast concrete technology, we are able to dramatically reduce the complexity usually associated with unique artistic pieces. By precision-casting all of our Spohncrete pieces in pre-engineered molds, we are able to guarantee precise geometry and a perfect finish. Using 6000 psi concrete and stainless steel edging also allows us to guarantee the longevity and durability of all our pieces with a 15-year warranty.
