The Hyde Park Skatepark is a central component of the campaign to revitalize Niagara Falls as a modern and youthful place to live. Without a doubt Western New York’s premiere skatepark, the design was shaped by the linear constraints of Hyde Park Lake and public input gathered at a series of design workshops.
Workshops revealed a community consensus for a well-balanced layout with both street and transition-style terrain and clear flow, meaning no crisscrossing traffic patterns that could lead to collisions. Additional requests included a mini-ramp section and a section with flat ledges and manual pads reminiscent of downtown NYC’s plazas. Acting as prime designer and specialty sub-contractor during construction, Spohn Ranch’s signature aesthetic came to fruition in the form of skateable “NF” letters.
