After a period of site investigation and analysis and public design charrettes with the local action sports community, we’ve finalized the design and construction drawings for a new concrete skatepark at Planz Park in the City of Bakersfield, California.
The final design features a mellow beginner-intermediate bowl and a wide array of street-inspired features like steps, handrails and benches. Our favorite feature though, is a one-of-a-kind roller-to-bank obstacle that pays tribute to Bakersfield’s iconic yellow and blue entrance arch.
As of last Monday, the Spohn Ranch crew is on the ground and making steady progress. The grand opening is tentatively scheduled for Memorial Day weekend so stay tuned for construction updates!
