Furnace Skateshop gives new skatepark seal of approval

One of the best perks of working for a skatepark builder is “research and development”. In other words, when skatepark construction is complete, we recruit a group of talented local skateboarders to join us for a “quality control” session. This not only opens the door for valuable feedback, but also provides an opportunity to put the skatepark through its paces … FULL POST »

Design Innovation at North Beardsley Skatepark

We like to believe that every skatepark design is better than our last and Bakersfield’s latest skatepark at North Beardsley Park is a prime example of that. After a successful design and build project for the City of Bakersfield in 2014, we wanted to raise the bar even higher when North of the River Recreation and Park District hired Spohn Ranch as their skatepark … FULL POST »

West Allis, Wisconsin Skate Plaza Project Underway

Before designing the Milwaukee-area’s first modern skate plaza, our work for the City of West Allis involved a thorough site selection process where we analyzed locations throughout the community – examining accessibility, environmental impact and design canvas. When Radtke Park was selected, we pursued a green approach by working around trees and contouring the skateable terrain to the site’s natural … FULL POST »

Grand Opening of Ponderosa Skatepark in Bend

In 2013, the Bend Park & Recreation District and PUSH of Oregon, a local skateboard advocacy group, selected Spohn Ranch as the skatepark designer and builder for the City’s latest skatepark project at Ponderosa Park. Ponderosa Park was already home to a concrete skatepark built in 1997, but flawed design and subpar skatepark construction limited the potential of the space … FULL POST »

Bend, Oregon Skatepark Build Pushes Forward

The final concrete pours in Bend, Oregon are going down this week as the Spohn Ranch crew races against mother nature and the cold temps that are creeping in.  The crew is also hard at work installing locally-salvaged boulders that will give skaters a unique riding experience as they transition between concrete and natural stone.

New Skatepark in Miami, Florida

Miami, Florida – North Trail Park, originally uploaded by spohnranchskateparks. The crew is just wrapping up our fourth concrete skatepark in Miami Dade County. Tight little rectangular space, nestled in-between walking paths and basketball courts, but will definitely be a fun one! The park features a hipped mini-ramp, multiple stair-sets, an a-frame combo and some sculptural manual pads – should … FULL POST »
