RANCHO CUCAMONGA SKATE SPOT CELEBRATES OPENING

In 2011 the City of Rancho Cucamonga was awarded a grant to build a recreational park on a vacant plot of land parallel to Madrone Avenue. Shaped by input from the local community, “Los Amigos Park” was born.

The City’s landscape architect, RJM Design Group, presented Spohn Ranch with a design challenge – create a skatepark within a circular footprint while maintaining good flow and features for all skill levels.

Acting as both skatepark designer and builder, Spohn Ranch rose to the challenge in the same fashion as recent success stories in the nearby communities of Rosemead and San Bernardino.

A volcano quarter-pipe anchors the circular canvas, while features like a manual pad combo, flat grind rail and curved slappy ledge round out the perimeter.

On April 21st, 2017 Los Amigos Park celebrated its grand opening with hundreds in attendance – local skateboarders, families and City officials. The skate spot was no doubt one of the most popular features of the new park.

Just prior to the official opening, Spohn Ranch and employees/riders from the local Active Rideshop visited the skate spot for a lunchtime session. It didn’t take long for a unanimous response – this was going to be their new skate home.
